Global Adventures Timeshare recommends visitors to Southern Baja, to visit the beautiful Mission San Javier a few miles outside of the town of Loreto in Baja California South Mexico. You only need to drive about 7 kilometers South of Loreto on the main Highway to get to the dirt road which takes you to the town of San Javier, it is then about 30 miles on a dirt road but it is worth the bumps and dust! The construction of this chapel dates back to 1744 and is an amazing site to see, it is one of the most preserved of all of the missions of the California’s. The setting of this small mission up in the mountains over looking the Sea of Cortez in the small mountain town of San Javier is really breathtaking and this is why it is a Global Adventures Timeshare must see.
Global Adventures Timeshare recommends if you choose not to rent a car when you visit Loreto, to head with a tour group to the Mission tours. It is about a 6 hour day excursion from your hotel to the Mission and back including lunch and stops at gorgeous photo opportunities along the way to the chapel. The court yard of the chapel is so beautifully maintained the beautiful flowers are so colorful and mature, and the statues and the three bells at the mission make this really an incredible site. Global Adventures Timeshare also recommends, one of the other amazing stops along the way to the mission is a quick tour of the Olive orchards planted by the Jesuits, and also stopping at the ranches on the way up to see some of the other hundreds of year old chapels in the area.
The history of Loreto and the surrounding mountains is something Global Adventures Timeshare recommends you not to miss; it transports you back to a different era. Global Adventures Timeshare also wants visitors to see a real live interpretation of Mexican culture with no souvenir shops or tequila tasting, just a real history, in a beautiful tranquil mountainous setting.
