Tips for Traveling With Pets

So you're going on vacation and you want to take your best bud - Fido - along with you. Travelling with a pet can be very scary for pet owners. Not only do they worry about how their pet will act, but they also worry about the safety of their pet.

When travelling with your pet there are several steps that you can take beforehand to assure that nothing will go wrong with your pet on the way to your destination. Obviously, if you are bringing an animal along with you, you will want to ensure that they are placed in a secure kennel. For your pets comfort, make sure the kennel gives them ample room to move around so that they are not confined to lay in one spot for hours on end. It is also a good idea to line the bottom of the kennel with a thick padding so that your pet is not laying on a hard surface the whole flight. Also, bring along some chew toys or bones so that your pet has some way of entertaining themselves if they cannot sleep aboard the flight.
If you are bringing a dog along with you, it may be a good idea to place a muzzle on them before sending them on their own. Even if you own the friendliest dog known to man, this is a good idea because, when it comes to pets, even the friendliest can become defensive if placed in an uncomfortable situation. A muzzle also comes in handy to keep your dog's barking to a minimum.
In traveling situations, it is not uncommon for dogs to experience separation anxiety from their owners. There are several steps you can take to help your dog stay calm during flight. The first, and most important, thing to remember when traveling with your dog is that dogs can sense your emotions. If you are upset about leaving your dog, your dog will also be upset that you are leaving them. When you depart from your pet make sure you remain calm so that your pet knows everything is alright. Also, to keep your pet happy during flight, make sure that they are well fed and well exercised. If you can, allow your pet to run and play as much as you possibly can before you must send them off. A well exercised dog is more likely to be tired and to sleep during the flight.
On top of ensuring that your pet is happy, you will want to take extra precautions to ensure that your pet reaches the same destination as you. As you may know, it is not unheard of for airlines to lose luggage. Taking extra precautions with your pet is always a good idea as, unlike luggage, they are irreplaceable! When the plane ticket is attached to your dog’s kennel, double check to see it is firmly attached and clearly labelled with the right destination. Make sure that there is no way the label could be read incorrectly.
Many people nowadays are bringing their pets along with them when they travel. If you want to bring your pet along with you, ensure that they have a comfortable kennel, are well fed and exercised before the flight, and that all labels are clear and firmly attached to the dog kennel. If you take all precautions, you and your dog will be reunited safely and happily at your destination!

Grand Lake Oklahoma - Fun for Everyone!

Welcome to Grand Lake Oklahoma...a home to many and a playground to so many more. Whether you are looking for relaxation or non-stop action, you can find it at Grand Lake.
First, the details: You can find Grand Lake in far Northeastern Oklahoma, in the foothills of the Ozarks. Grand Lake is approximately 64 miles long, with around 1,300 miles of shoreline, and is created by the longest multiple-arch dam in the world, Pensacola Dam.
This lake is unique in that it is a "utility" lake...it is controlled by the Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA), and as such, individual citizens own property directly adjoining the lake and can enjoy at their leisure. This Fee Simple ownership right up to the lakefront is a feature found at very few lakes nationwide, and makes this lake among the most appealing lakes in the South central United States.
Additionally, private docks and access to the lake are abundant. So with a combination of ownership of lakefront land and the ability to have your own private dock, you can see why the area is so popular.
So, what can you do with all that lake access? Well, on the water, how about:
  • boating
  • skiing and wakeboarding and tubing
  • swimming
  • sailing and windsurfing
  • fishing
  • and don't forget to just relax
That is just ON the water. What kinds of stuff are there to do for the land lubbers in the crowd? Well...how about:
  • visiting flea markets and finding antiques
  • visiting historic sites
  • museums
  • golfing
  • awesome 4-wheeling
  • camping
  • golfing
  • relaxing
Now, this is not an exhaustive list, but it gives you an idea of all the activities that can be enjoyed at and along Oklahoma's crown jewel. Did you notice that relaxing was on both of those lists?
And, don't forget all of the businesses that call the Grand Lake area home. From Miami at the north end, all the way through Grove, the commercial hub, to the Pensacola Dam at the "deep" end, there are local businesses and service providers offering what you need. From fishing guides to boat rentals to home contractors to restaurants and gift shops, this area offers it all.
One other great thing that makes boating on Grand so awesome is the lack of hidden underwater hazards. As the lake was filling up - this lake was built in the late 1930's - the forward thinking founders had the bottom of the lake cleared of trees and stumps...so this is not a lake where you really need to worry about hidden dangers. That makes Grand Lake a boating jewel in Oklahoma.

With so many potential things to do, it's easy to see why Grand Lake Oklahoma is a fun filled destination...whether for a lifetime of a day.

Fine Baja Peninsula Beaches Await Your Arrival In Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

The sandy beaches of Cabo San Lucas have been one of the most inviting scuba diving sanctuaries because of its world class sights and resorts.  Beautiful colors and species of fish await your dive.   For those tourists who are searching for a value worthy and relaxing vacation, Cabo San Lucas provides a variety of things that would definitely be of interest. It is considered a great Spring Break location that can provide options for both rich and famous visitors as well as a great destination for value seeking tourists.

The many tourists that come to the place get to enjoy special bonuses of being able to observe whales in the oceans that migrate during winter seasons in other countries. The warm waters of the beaches in Cabo San Lucas serve as a sanctuary where whales can bear their young. The largest marlin and billfish trophy fishing tournament is also celebrated and takes place in Cabo San Lucas annually to the delight of local and international tourists.  There is something magical and special about the place where the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez meet.

A lot of tourists in the past have fallen in love with Cabo San Lucas making it their settlement for retirement. Recently, statistics imply that around seventy to eighty percent of its inhabitants come from the United States. The resorts and golf courses in Cabo San Lucas also serve as a retreat for many international celebrities and influential individuals. Whether politicians, artists, or major business owners, the luxurious hotels and exclusive condo, villa and townhouse residences become their new home in Cabo San Lucas.

Getting to Cabo San Lucas can conveniently be booked through any major airline which lands at Los Cabos International Airport. It is also a town that is popularly visited by many tourists because major cruise ship operators such as Carnival and Royal Caribbean stop in Los Cabos as a major port of call on their Mexican Riviera and Baja Peninsula itineraries.  The large marina and eye catching bay of Cabo San Lucas are famous for their very casual atmosphere. This is also a haven for those seeking an exciting nightlife as they get to watch the sunset by the Sea of Cortez that meets the Pacific Ocean.  Go into town and enjoy some Tequila at one of the many fine bars or eating establishments such as the Cabo Wabo Cantina.  One can always find locals willing to sell you cigars, souvenirs and remembrances of your trip, both in town as well as along the beachfronts of the resorts but remember to bring along your negotiation skills, no need to pay $40 for a straw hat when you can buy it for $12.  If you're staying for an extended stay there is a full sized Walmart in town, actually within walking distance of one of my favorite resorts, the Riu. The resort includes the all-inclusive Riu as well as the upscale Riu Palace Hotel.

Your resort can arrange with local tour operators for special excursions for sightseeing, diving, fishing and other fun activities. Get dirty on a wild dune buggy ride in the Baja sands. Have a blast renting a personal high powered watercraft or jet ski; cost will be dependant on the length of time you arrange and your negotiating skills.  Do not attempt to trade your "free drinks" or other items from your Hotel or Resort as security is watching and monitoring those activities and is highly frowned upon.

Tourists should never miss an opportunity to visit El Archo, a wonderful rock formation that had been formed by nature at Land's End. El Archo is one of the most famous spots in the area and in the world. Cabo San Lucas has a breath taking beach and postcard views that are lined with an abundance of shops, restaurants, resorts, and hotels that can fit any kind of budget. For tourists who would want to have an all inclusive yet inexpensive trip to Cabo San Lucas, they could spend their entire vacation at the comfort of their resorts that offer plenty of activities under the sun

Global Adventures Timeshare visits the Mission de San Javier in Loreto.

Global Adventures Timeshare recommends visitors to Southern Baja, to visit the beautiful Mission San Javier a few miles outside of the town of Loreto in Baja California South Mexico.  You only need to drive about 7 kilometers South of Loreto on the main Highway to get to the dirt road which takes you to the town of San Javier, it is then about 30 miles on a dirt road but it is worth the bumps and dust!  The construction of this chapel dates back to 1744 and is an amazing site to see, it is one of the most preserved of all of the missions of the California’s.  The setting of this small mission up in the mountains over looking the Sea of Cortez in the small mountain town of San Javier is really breathtaking and this is why it is a Global Adventures Timeshare must see.

Global Adventures Timeshare recommends if you choose not to rent a car when you visit Loreto, to head with a tour group to the Mission tours.  It is about a 6 hour day excursion from your hotel to the Mission and back including lunch and stops at gorgeous photo opportunities along the way to the chapel.  The court yard of the chapel is so beautifully maintained the beautiful flowers are so colorful and mature, and the statues and the three bells at the mission make this really an incredible site.  Global Adventures Timeshare also recommends,  one of the other amazing stops along the way to the mission is a quick tour of the Olive orchards planted by the Jesuits, and also stopping at the ranches on the way up to see some of the other hundreds of year old chapels in the area.

The history of Loreto and the surrounding mountains is something Global Adventures Timeshare recommends you not to miss; it transports you back to a different era.  Global Adventures Timeshare also wants visitors to see a real live interpretation of Mexican culture with no souvenir shops or tequila tasting, just a real history, in a beautiful tranquil mountainous setting.
